Uberwhelmed

It's official: I'm overwhelmed--superwhelmed--extrawhelmed--uberwhelmed. Is there a cardinal rule against admitting that in the blogosphere? The baby I can handle. It's the other four sub-adult beings in the house, and their dishes, and their laundry, and their homework, and their lessons, and their subversion of my Great Plan of Domestic Bliss. Comrade Mother knows how to make you happy if you will just toe the line. She can force bliss into this home if you will only listen to her. She is not crazy!

I LOVE this post. Comrade Mother! Ha! If only they would just DO what we say WHEN we say it!

My advice-- don't sweat the small stuff, and by small, I mean having a clean house, or clean clothes. It's all overrated, and won't be important when we're dead. ;)

How is that baby?

Emily, I think that this just means that you are only human! Sorry! Can't imagine how you do what you do anyway, with 5 children. I found it hard enough organising work, life and activities for only 1 (plus 2 part time stepchildren). Sometimes it is just good to turn away from the chaos and go outside and scream.

A friend once embroidered and framed something for me which I keep in sight in my kitchen, and make myself look at it when things get on top of me:

"AN IMMACULATE HOUSE IS THE SIGN OF A WASTED LIFE."

PS: I expect you have tried bribery with the sub-adults?

I'm glad to know that you are infact human and that yo do have a limit. I don't have any idea how you do all that you do. I too wish the sub-adults would just listen the first time and do what you ask. Is this too much to ask of a three year old and two two year olds?!
