Cheating

I'm having an affair.

Today, in the middle of the workday, my partner and I arrived in separate cars at our secret destination.

In-n-Out Burger.

That's right. My husband and I met at In-n-Out Burger in the middle of the day to cheat on our children. We had cheeseburgers, and fries, and shared a strawberry milkshake.

With each other--and no one else. No bites, no sips, no messes, no interruptions, and absolutely no leftovers taken home to share.

Not one morsel.

Yes, my husband and I are cheating on our children, and we're loving it.

Good for you! Absolutely essential, I'd say, and you should make it a regular event. Enjoy, guilt free.

Alan and I arrived in separate cars in a pub car park many years ago, whilst house hunting, planning to park one of the cars there and view a house round the corner and return to have some lunch before leaving. As we left my car, about to drive off in Alan's, the pub landlady came out screaming at us "I know what you are up to. It is disgraceful. Don't think you can park here and go off together. Take your cars and go!" It was all a bit shocking at that moment, but we did laugh about it. She did not wait for an explanation as she had firmly decided we were both married to other people, having an affair and this was one of our illicit trysts. Needless to say, although we lived in that house for 5 years, we never once darkened the doors of her pub!

Sally, that is hilarious. I can just picture you and Alan being berated by the pub lady. At least you can rest assured knowing you looked good enough to be assumed to be the forbidden fruit.

Sounds heavenly to me. Does that mean that all your kids are at school/sitters? I need one. Just the fact you got to have conversation with your spouse is fabulous, but a milk shake too. That is sheer decadence.

I know! The milkshake topped it off. Willa was at afternoon kindergarten, and baby was there but kindly didn't bother us, ask when we were leaving, hit anyone, or ask for any bites. So we didn't mind having him.

Our kids still don't know about our affair....Now that most of them live away, tho...we have to lock our front door even still.
